As I
clicked on close-up photos of trendy reading glasses on several websites, I saw
some pieces of eye wear that matched my bags and shoes, and maybe worth my time
to think about should I decide to buy additional pieces of fashion accessories. Trendy reading glasses in stylish colors and
designs give more definition to fashion that it's no longer a surprise why they
are no longer listed as mere vision aids, but as fashion accessories.
And since
they are now used as fashion accessories, even kids in school uniforms are
using them to spruce up their sense of style (and perhaps their IQ).
If you
have kids who want to sport the whiz look (come on, we did it too!), but do not
have the need to correct their vision yet, please discourage them. Wearing a pair of reading glasses just for
fashion purposes might do them more harm than good. When in doubt, it is better to encourage your
children to see their doctor for an eye exam before they place an order for a
pair of trendy reading glasses from an online store.
Why See a Doctor
Only an
eye doctor can determine if your child's symptoms (if any) are caused by a
weakening vision or by other underlying conditions. Even adults can benefit
from an eye exam; diabetes can manifest symptoms of blurry vision that only a
trained professional can detect.
Glaucoma, a serious eye condition, may be treated during its early
stage. However, if you skip visits to
the doctor, your condition can worsen and may cost you your eyesight.
Not All Glasses are Created Equal
Buying a
pair of trendy reading glasses on the internet without an eye exam is
risky. It's like taking drugs without
prescription; you can suffer from allergies.
Your vision should be evaluated by your doctor to determine the diopter strength of your eyes. Buying a pair of
trendy reading glasses without this accurate information can harm your eyes,
and you waste money on ineffective reading glasses.
Do not
forego an eye exam. See your doctor
today.
